Eleventh Annual UW-Platteville Indigenous Peoples' Day Lecture

Thursday, October 9 | 6–8 p.m. | Boebel Hall Room 104

Enjoy an evening with Moira Villiard, a multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant work uplifts underrepresented stories and fosters healing through public art across the Great Lakes. She grew up on the Fond du Lac Reservation and is a Fond du Lac direct descendant. Villiard blends murals, animation, illustration and community exhibitions and engagement to explore the intersections of history, identity and resilience.

Students in UW-Platteville’s Modern Russia class step outside the classroom to connect with history firsthand

For many people, the agony of the Russian Revolution and the breakthroughs of the Soviet MIR space station are distant events, far removed in space and time. But not for the students in UW-Platteville’s Modern Russia class.

On April 10, students in Dr. Andrey Ivanov’s History 4120 course stepped outside the classroom for a day-long field trip to the Wisconsin Historical Society, followed by the Annual Petrovich Lecture in Madison.

The event will take place on Monday, April 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Doudna 103, and is free and open to the public.

Dr. David Krugler, professor of history at UW-Platteville, was selected as one of the recipients of the 2024 Alliant Energy James R. Underkofler Excellence in Teaching Awards. The award is funded by an endowment from the Alliant Energy Foundation, Inc. to recognize and reward extraordinary undergraduate teachers at Universities of Wisconsin schools within Alliant Energy’s service area.
